Ann Cooper talks school lunches

Summary:
According to Ann Cooper’s speech, she explains how she has to change school lunches for kids in the U.S. She is a director in a food industry with 90 workers. She advised everyone should concern children’s health even though people are busy. Nowadays, the U.S. people are feeding lots of chemical food for their children such as fries, candies, snakes and burgers. There are lots of disadvantages for children. However, some of the U.S. schools are concerned their students’ health, so they try to prepare tiny burgers and large vegetables. Ann does appreciate it, but she suggests that schools should have cooking class. They must teach their children how to cook food instead of fast food. She wants to change children play video games, watch T.V., instead of spending time with family. They have to teach children communicate with others without any technology stuff. Finally, she said people should know how they feed their children. She hopes parents can spend time on eating with children. (words: 164)

Response:
Actually I think Ann can ignore these problems, and keeps to be a successful chief. However, I really appreciate that she has tell everyone takes an action for our next generation right now. Ann told us there are 10 companies control much people eat, especially fast food restaurant. It’s true that everyone likes to eat fast food because of size and prices. I think there are many children like fast food because they can get a toy through a meal. In fact, I think these 10 companies should have business ethic to earn money. For me, I don’t think they will consider people’s health because they keep opening a new store everywhere. Also, I think Ann is right because when the technology is successful, but we don’t have time to communicate with family and friends. Everyone should spend a little time on cooking, exercise and communication. I think we can have a better life without technology. (words: 156)

  1. I agree with Irene’s view about fast food and children and necessity to think about our next generation if we give every time fast foods and beverages. As we all know, fast food is not good for health of our children. In regards to this, I want to share my personal experience. In Indian homes, we cook food thrice a day and every time, I cook fresh food for my family. Now, I am in Canada and about two months ago, my son came from India. In this period of time, his food habit has gradually changed. Now, he likes fast food and he demands fast food everyday. But as a mother, it’s my responsibility to take care of his health, i.e. I told him that I will give him fast food occasionally not everyday because it is not good for his health and I try to maintain balance between his choice of food and Indian food, which is already nutritious and good for his health and development. In addition to this, I would like to say that as a parent, it’s our responsibility to take care of our kids’ health. (Word count:192)

  2. Nutritious food is important for children’s development. The present children prefer to eat fast than healthy food. Her idea is great, because the best way to teach kids to eat healthy food is at school. Big companies are killing small businesses. It is sad that the U.S government spend more money for prisoners than schools. It seems like the government of USA wants to have only prisoners not healthy population and stupid children. I think if the government don’t change its strategy then the whole US nation will suffer from serious diseases.

  3. I completely agree with Irene, because I think that nutrition is one of the most important processes in human beings. Because of this, I think food habits are something that we really need to study. In today’s world thanks to globalization the USA food habits are being copied all over the world. This is not good, because this food is very harmful and high on fat and calories. This only mean that obesity and heart related problems are increasing in today’s world. Because of this we should stop that process and change our nutrition. I think Cooper project is really good. If we follow her ideas, we will have a better nutrition in our schools. Kids will be better informing about nutrition having this way a healthier life and reducing obesity.

  4. I think cooking class she suggested is wonderful idea since learning cooking plays important roles in eating habits when they are adults, that's becuase they can learn how to make health food. theseday, obesity is big issues in America. I believe people suffering from obesity usually love eatng more than preparing meal and having a enjoy time with family. they only focus on feeling full. therefore, when children learn cooking and health eating habits, children can grow up healthy adult and US can be free from issues on obesity.

  5. I think this is true. Almost all the kids like fast food no matter where the kids are, but everybody knows how unhealthy the food are. After coming to Canada, I found that not only children but also adults eat fast food here. I think people here do more care than people in China, but I do not why they love to eat fast food too. It is a good idea that children star to learn cook when they are young; therefore, they might have better diet habits. In addition, children and parents should spend more time together. I think family plays a especially important role in everybody‘s life, so I agree with Ann Cooper.
